<<I just don't think it's genetic since it's a sexual preference.  I mean, you can "carry the gene" but that doesn't necessarily mean you will be it once you try it.  Ugh, bear with me I'm in no way elloquent with words.  :)  Let's see if I can try to explain my thoughts this time.  Preferences are likes and dislikes.  A gene can't control what you like and dislike right?  It's more or less up to you.  Well, if you happen to like being with a same sex partner, ok.  That's what you like.  Same with alcohol, the things you eat, the things you do...etc..  Doesn't necessarily mean it's genetic though.
And yes, I know a lot of scientists have tried to prove it's genetic, but a lot have also tried to DISPROVE it.  So it's pretty much 50/50.  Some say it is, some say it isn't.  It will be debated because it's unproven.
Also, it is my belief that if you first choose alcoholism, you can stop it after. But if it's let too long, then it gets harder.  It's not necessarily out of your hands until it gets too far gone.>>


Also, genetics does mean it is in your blood, but you must also realize that the "gay gene", if it in fact exists, would be just like any other, meaning it could be a gene that is merely CARRIED, like color-blindness (which I am ALSO well versed in, since I AM color blind).  Women are almost always merely carriers of the color-blindness (I think the chances that women actually ARE color blind are something like 1 in a trillion), while men, if they receive the gene, will almost always be color blind.
